The Royalton's spectacular lobby stretches an entire block, is lined with pillars and draped in the elegant, minimalist design of Phillipe Starck. Starck's vision of recreating the ambiance and romance of steamship travel in a modern scenario has produced a lobby to see - and be seen in. What's more, the location is ideal: just off Fifth Avenue, less than two blocks from Madison Avenue's designer boutiques, and two blocks from the bright lights of Broadway. The hotel's 44 Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy drinks in the lobby or the intimate Round Bar. Dark blue curving hallways lead to rooms reminiscent of cabins, with porthole windows and built-in storage. Bathrooms feature slate and glass-walled showers or large, custom bathtubs.
